Creative therapeutics can help express thoughts and feelings that may be otherwise be difficult to articulate when dealing with cancer. Join Sara and Melanie to learn how art therapy and meditation techniques can improve physical and mental well-being during treatment and recovery for breast cancer. Feel free to bring along some small samples of words or images that are important to you if you’d like to incorporate these in your artwork. Prepare to contemplate, create and connect!

Seek the Peak 2012

On June 17th, 2012 Grouse Mountain will host the 9th Annual Seek The Peak Relay in support of Rethink Breast Cancer! This challenging 16-kilometer course starts on the beach at Ambleside Park in West Vancouver, winds its way through North Vancouver, then heads up the legendary Grouse Grind® to the Peak of Vancouver. Over the past eight years, Seek The Peak participants have raised over $200,000 for Rethink Breast Cancer by collecting pledges. All funds raised from Seek the Peak will assist Rethink’s innovative support, research and education programs in B.C

Unshaven Mavens is a quirky fundraising event which aims to increase young women’s awareness of the fact that early breast cancer symptoms can be found in the underarm, as well as the breast. To do this, participants will go “au naturel” and not shave for the entire month of October.

Kickbox for the Cure, Toronto

Hosted on the eve of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Kickbox for the Cure juxtaposed black ties and ball gowns with boxing gloves, kick-boxing demos and a rousing match with one of Canada’s top female kickboxers. A super hot DJ spun tunes while guests sipped, noshed, took in kickboxing demonstrations on display or tested the velocity of their own punches by slipping on a pair of limited edition pink boxing gloves and giving the pads a punch!

Think spiked punch, pimpin’ party favours, Bozo the barmaid, celeb-lounge loot bags, world-class DJs and a whole lotta sexy surprises at Calgary’s hottest downtown venue, The Bank. 10 groundbreaking years only come around once in a lifetime, so we shined up our best party shoes and took it over the top at our biggest bonanza ever!!!
