Love Is…A Poem From Wildfire

LOVE is… Getting her a cold glass of water in the middle of the night when hot flashes awake her, so you get up too.

LOVE is… Doing your silly goofy dances to make her laugh because you haven’t seen her smile in a while.

LOVE is… Sleeping beside her in a tiny hospital bed for a full week so she’s never alone.

LOVE is… Forcing her to stare in the mirror and say “I’m sexy” when you notice she can barely look at herself. So you say “You’re the most beautiful girl in the world” as you kiss her bald head, and she can’t help but believe it.

LOVE is… Not knowing what the future holds, but having no fear. Because whatever happens you know, you’ll always have each other.

That is LOVE.

Nalie Agustin. Blogger. Diagnosed age 24. Stage IIB, ER+, PR+, HER2-. Diagnosed age 27. Stage IV. I am a Scorpio from Montreal, Canada with a degree in Communication & Cultural Studies. I started blogging in 2013 when I was diagnosed with breast cancer at only 24 years old. Writing became my therapy, and as my stories began to inspire people around the world, it turned into my passion. Having cancer was life-changing! But I didn’t want it to change ME: the fun, active, social person, full of energy that I was known to be. @nalieagustin and nalie.ca
