Through a list of guided meditations, soothing music, meditation teachers, and a meditation timer, the app can be used by beginner and expert meditators to relax and refocus. While Insight Timer isn’t specific to cancer patients, wellness is always something we should be thinking about. With the high amounts of stress and anxiety that often come with diagnosis and treatment, this app could be one tool in your toolbox to help you stay sane and grounded.

About: While this app isn’t cancer-specific, MyFitnessPal can help cancer patients regularly document and track their food intake in order to follow any dietary restrictions placed on them by their doctor. Through this app, users can set daily dietary goals (ie/ sodium intake). MyFitnessPal will alert you when you have exceed this daily limit and help you keep track of how you are doing. Additionally, the app contains nutritional information for many restaurants to help you make the right decisions while eating out.

3. Chemo Brain

About: Created by a cancer survivor, Chemo Brain helps patients to cope with clouded memory during treatment. The purpose of the app is for users to document any questions they have (via text or voice recording) and record their doctor’s answers to them. While most cellphones already have voice recording abilities, the benefit of Chemo Brain is that all this information is stored in one place and is easily accessible. This would help patients make the most of their appointments and ensure that all their questions are answered. For a $1.99 in-app purchase, users can also have the option to send these notes/recordings directly to loved ones.

About: CareZone is an app that meets all the organizing needs of cancer patients and their caregivers. This app is a one-stop shop for:

  • Medications. Take a photo of your prescription bottle to automatically import names and dosage. Receive reminders when it’s time to take your medication and record each time you take a dose. 
  • Journals. Document symptoms, record your doctor’s instructions and privately share this information with family members.
  • Calendars. Keep track of all your appointments and share access with others.
  • Contacts. Track and share the contact information of doctors, insurance providers, pharmacies, etc.
  • Notes. Securely store information that can be harder to remember (ie/ insurance information, instructions, etc.)
  • To-Dos. Track and document what you need to do and assign certain tasks to others.
  • Photos and Files. Store photos of important information for easier access.
  • News. Receive helpful health information most relevant to you.
