Canswer Hive: Back-to-School Advice

THIS IS THE CANSWER HIVE.  TIPS AND INSIGHTS SHARED DIRECTLY FROM RETHINK’S YOUNG WOMEN’S NETWORK (RYWN)

While September usually signals all the excitement a new school year brings (hello new supplies), this year just feels different for obvious reasons. While making decisions about your children are hard enough, a cancer diagnosis is another layer that can makes things even more complicated, like being immunocompromised if you’re in treatment. Enter anxiety.

We’ve heard from many members of our community about whether or not they will be sending their kids back to in-person school this month. Some have a weakened immune system, upcoming surgeries or additional risk factors like radiation to their lungs. Some are back to work or have a full-time job called cancer and can’t homeschool their children. We know these decisions are deeply personal and not easy to make so we asked our Canswer Hive how they made their decision.
