CANSWER HIVE: Gratitude List

This is the CANSWER HIVE – Tips and insights shared directly from Rethink’s Young Women’s Network (RYWN) We may have the mighty Oprah to thank for the gratitude movement but we think she’s onto something. Gratitude lists help you reflect on your day, whether it’s through a written list or even just a cognitive check-in acknowledging what you have instead of what you don’t. The women in our Canswer Hive know all too well about what can go wrong with the stress of a cancer diagnosis. Some days, it seems like nothing can go right, especially during cancer treatments with painful side effects. Still, when asked what there is to be grateful for, the floodgates opened up. On this Motivational Monday, here’s what they have to say.

Dee says:
Three things I’m thankful for: warm sunny days, clothes that fit, and delicious BC fruit in season.

Jill says:
Today I am grateful that there is no rain, that I found vegan cinnamon buns, and for The Gap! Because I’m wearing a new dress and received loads of compliments

Lindsay says:
I am grateful that my mind feels healthy, my family is good and I am happy.

Rachel says:
I’m grateful for my Gidget (my cat) surviving 32 days in the wild and that she is home safe today. Also we rescued a baby dove in our backyard and today I got to see the Momma feeding it. What a glorious day!

Traci says:
Today, three years, one month, and one day post-diagnosis with stage 3 her2+ IDC (invasive ductal carcinoma), I am grateful to have met the love of my life and to be 5 1/2 months pregnant with a very healthy baby – my first (at 39 years old)! Life is good!

Nikki says:
I’m grateful for a mom that’s willing to step in and help out when I’m having a rough day, for 3 months NED (no evidence of disease), and 4 amazing kids.

Sarah says:
Grateful for my wonderful family and friends. Grateful that my mental health has improved and that I’m enjoying life again.

Shauna says:
I’m grateful for sunshine, good friends and coconut sparkling water (there’s a chance it has vodka in it).

Betina says:
Grateful for waking up, a great massage therapist and my wonderful children and family.

Crystal says:
I am grateful for my strength, my two lovely babies and the determination and perseverance that I seem to find almost every day.

Marlene says:
I am grateful for a family who holds me up when I feel like drowning.

Amber says:
I am grateful for a supportive family and community, to live surrounded by beautiful beaches on these hot days, and to still be able to run my business.

Maya says:
I am grateful for my family (my amazing husband who is my rock through all this, my parents who are nothing but positive and my kids who are making me smile every day), for being accepted to a MA program of my choice and for breathing and enjoying life.

Laura says:
I am grateful for my family (my amazing husband who is my rock through all this, my parents who are nothing but positive and my kids who are making me smile every day), for being accepted to a MA program of my choice and for breathing and enjoying life.

Katerina says:
I am grateful my cancer is in remission. I am grateful both my parents are still here. I am grateful I just came from a beautiful vacation on a Greek island. That I can run 5km (even though I have to slow down to to a fast walk at times). That I have a friend who goes to the gym with me. That money is not tight. That there is hope for me – I might still become someone’s mom. I might get to be a better, kinder person. I might lose all that weight and have a fit, strong, reliable body.
