New normal

Canswer Hive: How I’m Rethinking the New Normal

THIS IS THE CANSWER HIVE.  TIPS AND INSIGHTS SHARED DIRECTLY FROM RETHINK’S YOUNG WOMEN’S NETWORK (RYWN)

A cancer diagnosis mixes things up so much that many people say they are a different person after being diagnosed. Really, how could you not be? You’ve just been blindsided, forced to put your life on hold, had to go through gruelling cancer treatments, and then emerge with new priorities for living your life. When the dust settles after cancer treatment, many women say that’s when the real hard emotional work starts. During chemo, surgeries and radiation, you are too busy dealing with side effects and the next treatment to really think about what your life will look like moving forward. And then, it is like you are blindsided all over again when you have to try to put the pieces of your life back together. So, how do you do that?

Enter the “new normal”. Some find this term comforting while others hate it. It implies that life is now different, which can be hard to acknowledge. And it even now applies to cancer muggles (we see you COVID). We asked our Canswer Hive to settle the debate and tell us what they think of the “new normal”.
