World Cancer Day

On World Cancer Day (February 4) Rethink Breast Cancer, wants to spread the word that every single person can make a difference in the fight against cancer!

It can start as an individual action and increase in impact as we come together as a community to make change.

Coordinated by the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) and supported by Rethink Breast Cancer and other organizations around the globe, World Cancer Day, is rallying under the tagline ‘We can. I can.’ and explores how everyone – as a collective or as individuals – can do their part to reduce the global burden of cancer.

So where can one start?

We Can: Inspire Action, Take Action

Join Rethink as we reinvigorate the breast cancer movement! Sign up to receive updates from Rethink on how you can get involved. Whether you are dealing with breast cancer in a friend or loved one, going through it yourself or concerned about your own risk, Rethink is there with the tools and resources to empower you to make the right choices.

We Can: Improve Access to Cancer Care

Help us make changes to health care policy to improve access to treatment and care for all breast cancer patients. Lend your voice to our advocacy work. Rethink has a successful history in advocating for the needs of young women with breast cancer. From access to treatment in the early days of Herceptin to improving wait times for reconstruction surgery, we have been on the front lines making sure young women’s unique issues are front and center!

I Can: Ask For Support

Connect with other young women for support and community so no one ever has to face cancer alone. Join the Rethink Young Women’s Network. Going through breast cancer at any age is difficult, but going through it as a younger woman (or man) means you have unique needs like new relationships, career choices, fertility decisions and young children if you just started a family. Our online community of support can help you feel less isolated and alone, while encouraging you to share your experience to help others.

I Can: Make Healthy Lifestyle Choices

Learn about breast cancer and breast health and the healthy habits you can form to help reduce your risk or improve your recovery. Check out our Your Best Breast Health video series.

Rethink and the UICC encourages everyone to get active, in every sense of the word, on World Cancer Day (Feb 4). Share your physical activity with us on social media with #wecanIcan to motivate others to live a healthy lifestyle and make smart choices. Or share your #wecanIcan acts of change and awareness as we work together to improve the lives of everyone impacted.
